Four white oval shades hang in a line beneath a slim polished chrome bar, each one gently corrugated so the surface catches a soft ripple of light when the lamps are on. End to end the fitting runs 88cm, long enough to read as a single piece rather than a cluster of separate pendants, and the drop can be set high or low to suit the room. White shades against chrome keep the whole thing feeling light overhead rather than heavy.

This is a light for a long table, a kitchen island or a run of worktop, where the light spreads along the bar instead of gathering in a single bright pool in the middle. It suits open plan rooms where one pendant on its own would look lost, and in a hallway with generous height it can carry the ambient light by itself. We would choose warm white LED GLS lamps here for a steady, comfortable glow, and with dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer the level comes down easily for the evening. The E27 sockets take common household lamps, so replacements are never a hunt.

The frame is finished in polished chrome, and the ribbed profile of the shades gives the fitting some texture without fuss. A dry cloth keeps the chrome bright and free of fingerprints, while the ridges of each shade are best cleared with a soft brush and kept well away from water. Made for dry rooms indoors and for a normal domestic mains circuit, it is not a fitting for a bathroom or a covered porch. It carries a one year warranty. How far does it hang below the ceiling?

The drop is adjustable from 640mm to 1500mm, so it can sit close over a table or be lifted clear of a walkway.

What lamps should I use?

It takes four E27 lamps rated up to 20W each. LED GLS (A60) lamps are the sensible choice, and warm white suits the white shades best.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor a dimmer is supplied.

How much space does it need above a table?

Allow for a bar of 88cm in length and 220mm in width, and ideally a table longer than the fitting so the shades stay within the surface below.

How do I clean the corrugated shades?

Dust along the ribbing with a soft dry brush or a clean make-up brush. Avoid damp cloths and sprays, which can mark the finish.
