Description
The ESP HDview H512VDW is a 5MP IP dome camera with a 2.8-12mm motorised varifocal lens, Power over Ethernet connectivity, and infrared night vision up to 40 metres. The camera records at 2560x1920 resolution using a 1/2.7-inch image sensor and includes a built-in microphone for audio capture alongside video. The motorised lens adjusts remotely through the NVR or software interface, allowing the field of view to be changed from wide-angle coverage to a tighter zoom without physically accessing the camera.
Designed for outdoor security installation on commercial premises, residential properties and industrial sites, the camera carries IP67 ingress protection against dust and water, making it suitable for wall or soffit mounting in exposed positions. The white dome housing sits 148mm tall with a 137mm diameter base. Power and data run over a single Ethernet cable using PoE (Power over Ethernet), simplifying installation where mains power points are not available at the camera location. The camera is compatible with ESP's 24/7 series NVRs and supports onboard recording to a MicroSD card up to 256GB.
The infrared function switches on automatically in low light, illuminating the scene up to 40 metres in complete darkness without external lighting. The motorised varifocal lens covers focal lengths from 2.8mm (wide-angle, approximately 100-degree horizontal field of view) to 12mm (telephoto, approximately 25-degree horizontal field of view), allowing one camera model to be used across different monitoring requirements. The built-in microphone captures audio within approximately 5-8 metres of the camera, depending on ambient noise levels.

Frequently Asked
What NVR systems is this camera compatible with?
The camera is compatible with ESP's 24/7 series NVRs and most third-party ONVIF-compliant IP NVR systems. Check the downloads tab for the full compatibility list in the specification sheet.
How is the camera powered?
The camera uses Power over Ethernet (PoE), meaning power and data are delivered over a single Ethernet cable from a PoE switch or PoE injector. No separate mains power connection is required at the camera location.
Can the lens zoom be adjusted remotely?
Yes. The 2.8-12mm motorised varifocal lens is adjusted remotely through the NVR interface or camera management software. This allows the field of view to be changed from wide-angle to telephoto without accessing the camera physically.
What is the night vision range?
The infrared illuminators provide visibility up to 40 metres in complete darkness. Effective range depends on scene reflectivity and the focal length setting — the tighter zoom (12mm) concentrates IR light over a narrower area, extending usable range slightly compared to wide-angle (2.8mm).
