Description

The ESP HDview H512VDGA is a 5MP IP dome camera with a 2.8-12mm motorised varifocal lens, housed in a grey anti-vandal enclosure rated IP67 for weather sealing and IK10 for impact resistance. The camera connects via Power over Ethernet (PoE), carrying both power and data over a single cable, and records to compatible NVRs in the HDview 24/7 series or to an onboard microSD card slot supporting up to 256GB.

Designed for outdoor and indoor surveillance where the camera may be within reach or subject to tampering, the IK10-rated polycarbonate dome resists impacts equivalent to 20 joules of force, while the IP67 seal protects internal components from rain, dust and hose-down cleaning. The 2.8-12mm motorised lens is adjusted remotely via the NVR or camera interface, allowing the field of view to be set between wide-angle coverage (2.8mm, approximately 100° horizontal) and narrower zoomed monitoring (12mm, approximately 30° horizontal) without needing to open the housing.

Infrared LEDs around the lens provide visibility up to 40m in total darkness, automatically switching on when ambient light drops below the camera's threshold. The 1/2.7-inch image sensor captures 5-megapixel resolution at up to 20fps, and a built-in omnidirectional microphone records audio alongside the video stream for playback through compatible NVR systems. The grey finish blends into concrete, render and metalwork backgrounds more subtly than white or black housings.

Frequently Asked

What does the motorised varifocal lens do?

The 2.8-12mm lens is adjusted remotely via the NVR or camera web interface, changing the field of view from wide-angle (2.8mm, approximately 100° horizontal) to zoomed (12mm, approximately 30° horizontal). This lets you fine-tune the coverage area after installation without opening the camera housing.

Is the camera suitable for outdoor installation?

Yes. The IP67 rating protects against rain, dust and hose-down cleaning, while the IK10 impact rating resists vandalism and accidental knocks. The camera operates in temperatures from -30°C to 60°C and includes infrared LEDs for 40m night vision.

Does it require a separate power supply?

No. The camera is powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet), carrying both power and data over a single Ethernet cable connected to a PoE switch or PoE-enabled NVR. This simplifies installation and reduces cable runs.

Can it record without an NVR?

Yes. The camera includes a microSD card slot supporting up to 256GB for local edge recording. However, most users pair it with an HDview 24/7 series NVR for centralised recording, remote viewing and easier playback management.
