Description

The ESP S8POE is an 8-port PoE switch delivering up to 88W total power budget across all eight ports, with ports 1-8 supporting IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at (PoE/PoE+) powered devices. Two additional uplink ports (ports 9-10) provide gigabit Ethernet connectivity for network backhaul. The switch operates plug-and-play with no configuration required, automatically detecting and powering compliant PoE devices.

Designed for small office, home network and security camera installations where powered devices need to be connected without individual mains adapters, the S8POE powers devices such as IP cameras, wireless access points, VoIP phones and network video recorders directly over Ethernet cable. The 88W power budget is shared across all PoE ports, so the number of devices that can be powered simultaneously depends on the individual power draw of each device (typically 4-15W per camera or access point).

The compact 126mm square metal chassis fits on a desk, shelf or can be wall-mounted using the integrated mounting points on the underside. Green LED indicators on the front panel show link/activity status for each port and PoE status for powered ports. The fanless design operates silently, making it suitable for office environments where noise is a consideration. The switch weighs 290g unboxed and draws mains power from a standard UK plug.

Frequently Asked

How many cameras can the 88W budget power?

This depends on the power consumption of each camera. Typical IP cameras draw 4-8W for basic models and 10-15W for PTZ or infrared models. An 88W budget could power 5-6 higher-draw cameras or 10-12 lower-draw models simultaneously. Check your camera specifications for exact wattage requirements.

Do the uplink ports support PoE?

No. Ports 9 and 10 are uplink ports for network backhaul only and do not provide PoE power. Only ports 1-8 supply power to connected devices.

Does it require configuration?

No. The switch operates plug-and-play with automatic PoE detection. Connect powered devices to ports 1-8 and network uplink to ports 9 or 10. The switch automatically detects PoE-compliant devices and supplies the correct voltage.

Can it be wall-mounted?

Yes. Mounting points on the underside of the chassis allow the switch to be fixed to a wall or under a desk. The compact 126mm footprint also allows it to sit on a shelf or desk surface without taking significant space.
