Description
The ESP MAGZC-816 is a 4-zone detector expander card designed to add four conventional detector zones to the MAG816 fire alarm control panel. The card plugs directly into the panel's expansion port, providing additional zone capacity for larger installations without requiring a separate enclosure or power supply.
Designed for commercial and industrial fire alarm systems that have grown beyond the base panel capacity, the expander card allows installers to monitor up to four additional smoke detector, heat detector, or manual call point circuits from a single plug-in PCB. Each zone operates as a conventional circuit, terminating with an end-of-line resistor, and appears on the main panel display as zones 5-8 when the card is fitted to the primary expansion slot.
The green PCB measures approximately 120mm x 80mm and includes four dedicated zone terminal pairs along the top edge, with black and red fly leads on each zone connector for simplified wiring during installation. The card draws power from the host MAG816 panel via the expansion port connection, so no additional mains or battery supply is needed. The white adhesive label on the PCB shows the zone numbering and barcode reference for inventory tracking.
Installation involves powering down the MAG816 panel, aligning the card with the expansion port connectors, and seating it firmly until the edge connector is fully engaged. Once powered back up, the panel automatically detects the additional zones and makes them available for configuration through the panel's programming interface.

Frequently Asked
Is this compatible with other ESP fire alarm panels?
The MAGZC-816 is designed specifically for the ESP MAG816 fire alarm control panel. It will not work with other panel models due to the proprietary expansion port design and zone numbering protocol. Check the MAG816 manual for maximum number of expander cards supported.
How many zones can be added to a MAG816 panel?
Each MAGZC-816 card adds four conventional zones. The total number of zones available on a MAG816 panel depends on the base model configuration and how many expansion ports are fitted. See the MAG816 panel specification for the maximum zone capacity.
Does the expander card require separate power?
No. The card draws power from the host MAG816 panel through the expansion port connector. No additional mains supply or battery backup is needed for the expander card itself.
What type of detectors can be connected to the zones?
The four zones are conventional circuits, so each zone can be wired with conventional smoke detectors, heat detectors, or manual call points terminated with an end-of-line resistor. Addressable detectors are not compatible with these zones.
