Description

The ESP S16POE is a 16-port PoE network switch with a 225W total power budget, designed to distribute both data and power over Ethernet cables to connected devices. Each port supports IEEE 802.3af/at PoE standards, allowing the switch to power IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points and other PoE-compatible devices without requiring separate mains power at the device location.

Built for installation in server rooms, communications cabinets and AV racks, the metal chassis measures 602mm wide and fits a standard 19-inch rack mount. The 225W power budget allows multiple high-draw devices to be connected simultaneously — for example, up to 14 ports drawing 15W each, or a mix of lower-power and higher-power devices up to the total 225W ceiling. The fanless or low-noise cooling depends on load, making the switch suitable for environments where fan noise is a concern.

The front panel provides 16 RJ45 ports plus status LEDs indicating power, link activity and PoE delivery per port. The perforated side panel visible in the product image provides passive ventilation to dissipate heat from the internal power supply and switching circuitry. At 2.12kg net weight, the switch is lighter than many enterprise-grade alternatives while still providing commercial-grade reliability for small to medium installations.

Frequently Asked

How much power can each port deliver?

The S16POE supports IEEE 802.3af (up to 15.4W per port) and 802.3at (up to 30W per port) PoE standards. The total power budget across all 16 ports is 225W, so the actual per-port delivery depends on how many devices are connected and their individual power draw. For specific per-port limits, see the Product Specification Sheet in the Downloads tab.

What devices can this switch power?

The switch powers any PoE-compatible device including IP security cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points, intercom systems and PoE lighting controllers. Each device must support IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at standards to draw power from the switch.

Does it need rack mounting or can it sit on a shelf?

The 602mm width suggests this is designed for 19-inch rack mounting, though the specification does not explicitly confirm rack ears are included. The unit can sit on a shelf if ventilation is maintained around the perforated side panels, but rack mounting is the typical installation method for commercial and AV environments.

Is the switch managed or unmanaged?

This information is not provided in the supplied data. Check the Product Specification Sheet or Product Manual in the Downloads tab to confirm whether the S16POE is a managed switch (allowing VLAN configuration, port management) or an unmanaged plug-and-play model.
