E27 Pendant Light 25cm Amber - Satin Nickel

A wine glass shape in amber glass, carried on satin nickel metalwork with clear glass in the mix. It measures 25cm across the bowl, which keeps it in scale over a narrow surface where a wider shade would crowd. The tint takes the edge off the light and gives it a warm cast. The suspension is adjustable, so it can hang low over a counter or sit closer to the ceiling. It takes an E27 lamp and will dim, given a compatible dimmer switch and a dimmable lamp.

It suits places where a small light does the work: hung in a row above a kitchen island, over a breakfast bar, beside a bed, or in a hall. We would reach for a filament LED here, since the shape of it shows through the amber glass and gives the bowl something to hold; a globe or a plain pear shaped lamp spreads the light more evenly if you would rather that. Indoors and dry is where it belongs, well clear of splashes, so we would not put it in a bathroom.

The glass is the making of it, and the satin nickel is a soft grey sheen rather than a mirror, so fingerprints show less than they would on chrome. Switch off at the wall and let everything cool, then lift dust from the glass with a dry cloth; a barely damp cloth shifts kitchen film, dried off straight away, and nothing abrasive near the metal. It carries a two year warranty. The same wine glass shade runs through the range as a flush fitting in finishes from matt black to antique brass, with opal, smoke, clear and amber glass, so a hall and a kitchen can be kept in step. Lamps are not included.

How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 380mm at its shortest to 1750mm at its longest, so it works over a low table or from a taller ceiling.

What lamp should I use?

One E27 lamp up to 20W. LED shapes that suit the bowl include GLS A60, globe G80 and G95, ST64 and tubular T185.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer switch. Neither is supplied with the pendant.

How wide is the shade?

250mm across at the widest part of the bowl, and the whole pendant weighs 1.4kg.

How should I clean the amber glass?

Turn the power off and let the lamp cool, then dust with a dry soft cloth. For greasy marks in a kitchen, use a slightly damp cloth and dry the glass at once. Avoid solvents and abrasive creams.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms only.
