E27 Pendant Light 25cm Amber - Gun Metal

The shade is blown into a wine glass shape, a wide bowl drawing down to a slim stem, and it is finished in amber so the light falls warm on whatever sits below. At 25cm across it has enough presence to hang on its own without crowding a smaller room. The metalwork is gun metal with black detailing, and a single E27 lamp sits up inside the bowl where the glass is deepest. A globe or a tubular LED looks right here, and we would leave the lamp shape on show rather than hide it.

We reach for this one over a kitchen island, either singly or in a short run above a worktop, and it does good work over a small dining table or beside a reading chair. The suspension adjusts through a wide span, so it can hang close to the ceiling in a passage or sit lower over a table where you want the pool of light kept tight. It takes up to 20W, so an LED lamp is the sensible pick, and with a compatible lamp and dimmer the amber glass settles down nicely for the evening.

Glass and metal throughout, with the warmth coming from the shade rather than the lamp, and the gun metal kept quiet enough that the glass stays the thing you look at. A dry cloth over the bowl and a light buff on the metal is all it asks; give the lamp a moment to cool first, and keep polishes and solvents away from the glass. It carries a two year warranty. The wine glass shade measures 250mm in diameter, which keeps it in scale over an island, a bedside or a small dining table.

How far down does it hang?

The drop runs from 380mm at its shortest to 1750mm at its longest, so it can sit tight to the ceiling or fall low over a table.

Which lamp should I fit?

It takes one E27 lamp up to 20W. LED shapes such as a GLS, a globe, a teardrop or a slim tubular all suit the bowl, and the lamp is bought separately.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit a dimmable lamp and a matching dimmer switch. No dimmer is supplied with the pendant.

What is the shade made from and how do I clean it?

It is amber glass on a gun metal and black metal frame. Dust it with a soft dry cloth and use nothing abrasive; fingermarks lift with a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 and belongs in dry rooms such as kitchens, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways.
