Description

A slim arm sweeps out and down from the ceiling, ending in an E27 lampholder that sits forward rather than straight below. It comes as a frame only, so the shade is yours to choose, and the fitting reads differently depending on what you hang from it: a wide drum for a soft spread, or a narrow cone for something tighter. The satin black finish has a low sheen, closer to soft graphite than gloss, and the body measures 10cm across. The drop adjusts over a generous span, so the height can be set to suit the room.

We reach for this one over a kitchen island or a length of worktop, where the curve brings the light slightly forward of the ceiling point. It works at a bedside too, keeping the table below clear, and in a hallway where a straight drop would look plain. Because the shade is separate, it suits anyone matching a frame to shades they already own, or ordering fabric in a particular colour. It takes lamps up to 20W, and it will dim with a compatible lamp and dimmer, neither of which comes with it.

The frame is finished in satin black along the arm and around the holder, and it will carry a shade of up to 5kg, which covers most fabric and glass choices. Run a dry duster along the curve now and then; if fingermarks gather near the lampholder, a barely damp cloth followed by a dry buff will lift them, with the power off beforehand. It carries a one year warranty.
