Dreifa E27 Wall Light - Polished Chrome

A compact switched wall light in polished chrome with black, sized at 10cm wide so it sits neatly where a larger fitting would crowd the wall. A toggle switch on the body means the light is controlled at the fitting itself, with no reliance on a switch across the room. The lampholder takes an E27 lamp rated up to 20W, and an LED is what we would put in it.

It suits bedsides, where the toggle falls easily to hand for late reading, and it works just as well flanking a mirror, lining a hallway or picking out the corner of a study. Because it is switched on the body, this is one we suggest for rooms where the wiring is already settled and another switch position would be awkward. Choose a dimmable lamp, pair it with a compatible dimmer and the output can be brought down for the evening; neither the lamp nor the dimmer comes with it. It is meant for dry rooms indoors, so keep it away from shower zones and the weather.

The chrome is polished to a bright, reflective sheen, with the black giving it definition against a pale wall. Dust it with a dry microfibre cloth, and where fingermarks build up around the switch, use a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one; turn the light off and let the lamp cool before you start, and leave metal polishes and scouring creams well alone. It carries a one year warranty. The same small form is offered as a ceiling light in polished chrome, and in finishes running from matt black and matt white through antique brass, pewter and satin nickel, while the wider range takes in curved pendant frames if you want more presence overhead. Lamps are not included.

What size is it on the wall?

It measures 100mm wide by 170mm high, so it takes up very little wall and works in tight spots such as a narrow hallway or the gap beside a headboard.

Which lamp should I choose?

Any E27 lamp up to 20W. We would fit an LED, and a warm white one keeps the light kind beside a bed.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer. Neither is supplied with the light.

Does it have its own switch?

It does. A toggle switch on the body turns it on and off at the fitting, which is handy for bedside use.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 and belongs in dry rooms such as bedrooms, halls, studies and living rooms.

How do I keep the chrome bright?

A dry microfibre cloth for dust, and an almost dry cloth for fingermarks, then buff with a dry one. Avoid abrasive creams and solvent cleaners.
