Description

A slim stem rises from the base and bends forward, carrying the lampholder out over the surface below rather than straight up from it. Satin black covers base, arm and holder in a low, even sheen that sits quietly against wood or painted walls. It stands 50cm tall, takes an E27 lamp, and has an inline switch on the flex so it can be worked without reaching up under the shade. It arrives without a shade, so the size and finish of that part are yours to settle.

We like it beside a bed where the table is narrow and an upright lamp would throw light behind your head instead of onto the page. That forward reach does the same job on a desk corner, on a console behind a sofa, or next to a reading chair. Lamps up to 20W suit it, and if you choose a dimmable lamp and pair it with a dimmer, the level can be brought down for the evening. No dimmer is supplied with it.

It is double insulated, and the satin black is a soft sheen rather than a gloss, which keeps fingermarks and hard reflections down. Wipe it now and then with a dry cloth, following the curve of the arm, and keep polishes and sprays off the paint. It carries a one year warranty. The range runs to a floor lamp on the same curved arm, in satin black and in mixed metal finishes, plus shallow cone metal shades made to pair with it in painted brass, copper, bronze, pewter, stone and satin black. We keep base and shade apart on purpose, because the same arm reads quite differently under a pale cone than under a dark one. Lamps are not included.
