Description

Five slim arms curve out from a central ceiling plate and turn downwards, spacing their lamps evenly around a circle 64cm across. The finish is satin black, a soft low sheen rather than a gloss, and the drop adjusts so the frame can sit fairly close to the ceiling or hang much lower over a table. It comes as a frame on its own, with shades chosen to suit, and that is rather the point of it: E27 sockets ready for whatever glass, metal or fabric you decide on.

We would hang this over a round dining table or a broad kitchen island, where the ring of lamps echoes the shape of the surface beneath. It also earns its keep in a tall hallway or above a stairwell landing, where the longer drop lets the curve of the arms be seen properly from below. Each socket takes up to 20W, so the light is spread across several modest lamps rather than concentrated in one, and with dimmable lamps and a dimmer on the circuit it can be taken down to a quiet evening level.

The satin black is carried right along each arm, so the sweep reads as one continuous line from any angle you look at it. Dust gathers on the upper faces of the arms before anywhere else, so run a soft dry cloth along them occasionally with the power off, and keep polishes and solvents away from the paint. It carries a one year warranty. The same curved arms appear in a round frame with fewer lamps and in linear frames, in satin black and in antique brass with black, and we also stock the compact Dreifa ceiling light in a good spread of finishes if you want something to answer it elsewhere in the room. Shades and lamps are not included.
