Five E27 lampholders sit around a curved circular frame, finished in antique brass with black. At 64cm across, it reads as one broad open shape rather than a scatter of separate pendants, and it arrives as a frame only, so the shades that dress it are yours to choose. That is the appeal: wide fabric drums for a soft, spread light, or small metal cones for something tighter and more directional. The drop is adjustable, so the ring can sit high and quiet or hang low over a surface.

We would fit this over a round dining table or a generous kitchen island, where one pendant alone would look mean and a row of smaller ones would fuss up the ceiling line. It wants a room with a little height to give, and it works as well in a hallway with a stairwell above it as it does over a table. Each lampholder takes up to 20W, and with suitable lamps and a dimmer on the circuit the level can be brought down for the evening. It belongs in dry rooms indoors, away from bathroom splashes and open weather.

The metalwork carries the antique brass tone across the curve, with black at the lampholders keeping the ring visually light. Switch off at the wall and let any lamps cool before handling; after that a dry duster is all the brass asks for, and cream cleaners or solvents should be kept well away, as they will flatten the finish. The drop adjusts from 420mm at its shortest to 1270mm at its longest, so you can set it to suit the table or island below.

What size shades should I buy?

Five shades are needed, one per lampholder, each with an E27 fitting. Keep them modest in diameter so they sit clear of one another around the 640mm ring, and match all five for a settled look.

Which lamps do you suggest?

LED lamps with an E27 cap, rated no higher than 20W each. The right shape depends on the shades you choose: a globe or golf ball for open shades, a standard GLS for closed ones.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor a dimmer come with it.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated for dry indoor rooms only, so kitchens, dining rooms and hallways rather than bathrooms or covered outdoor areas.

How should I clean the antique brass?

Dust it with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid polishes, creams and solvents, which can mark or dull an antique finish.
