Description

Three E27 sockets sit along a gently curved bar that sweeps round on itself, held close to the ceiling on a shallow circular plate. Antique brass across the frame is paired with black at the lamp holders, so the metalwork reads warm rather than bright. It spans 44cm and keeps its depth low, staying tight against the ceiling line. The frame comes on its own, ready for shades of your choosing, and that is rather the point of it: the character arrives with whatever you decide to hang from it.

We reach for this one where a row of pendants would hang too low, so over a kitchen island in a room with limited headroom, in a hallway, or above a dining table where drops are out of the question. The curve spreads the light across a wider area than a single point would, which also makes it useful in a bedroom or a modest sitting room. Each socket takes up to 20W, so LED is the sensible choice, and the right shade will govern how much of that light goes down and how much washes the ceiling. It will dim, given lamps that dim and a compatible dimmer, neither of which comes with it.

The finish is an aged brass with a soft, slightly darkened surface, and the black holders stop the whole thing looking too gilded once shades are added. Keep a dry duster to it every so often and leave sprays and metal creams well alone, as the aged surface is not meant to be polished up. It carries a one year warranty. The same curved round frame is also offered as a pendant if you want the shape lower in the room, and there are compact single-lamp Dreifa ceiling lights in other finishes to tie in elsewhere. Shades and lamps are chosen and bought separately.
