Description

The Knightsbridge Dipa is a single-lamp tiltable recessed downlight built from die-cast aluminium with a matt black finish. The 93mm outer diameter requires an 82mm ceiling cut-out and a minimum 130mm ceiling void depth for installation. The inner lamp housing tilts up to 25 degrees from vertical, allowing the beam to be directed onto artwork, architectural features, or across a wall as wash light.

Designed for residential living rooms, retail displays, and hospitality interiors where directed accent lighting is needed without visible fittings, the Dipa sits almost flush with the ceiling surface — just 3mm projection beyond the plasterwork. The recessed depth of 39mm accommodates the GU10 lamp holder, which drops down on installation for rapid lamp fitting and removal without tools. The black finish minimises visual presence on dark ceilings and provides a defined edge on white plaster.

The anti-glare design recesses the lamp deep within the housing, preventing direct view of the light source from most angles and reducing discomfort glare in living spaces and hospitality environments. The die-cast aluminium construction dissipates heat from the lamp efficiently, supporting GU10 LED bulbs up to 10W. Tool-free cable termination at the rear of the fitting allows loop-in/loop-out wiring for multiple downlights on a single circuit, reducing second-fix installation time. The fitting carries IP20 rating for dry indoor use and is compatible with Knightsbridge fire-rated hoods where ceiling penetration requires fire barrier compliance.

What ceiling void depth is required?

A minimum 130mm ceiling void depth is needed to accommodate the 39mm recessed housing and allow clearance for the GU10 lamp and wiring connections. The 82mm cut-out is drilled through plasterboard or plaster before the fitting is pushed into place.

What GU10 bulb should I use?

The fitting accepts any standard GU10 lamp up to 10W. GU10 LED bulbs are sold separately — most users choose 5-7W warm white LEDs at 2700K-3000K for residential accent lighting. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulb model chosen.

Can the tilt angle be adjusted after installation?

Yes. Once installed, the inner lamp housing can be tilted up to 25 degrees from vertical to direct the beam onto walls, artwork, or architectural features. The tilt mechanism holds position without tools.

Is it suitable for bathroom use?

No. The IP20 rating limits the Dipa to dry indoor locations only. For bathrooms, a downlight with IP44 or IP65 rating is required depending on zone placement.
