Description
The Knightsbridge Dipa is a 78mm square recessed downlight with a fixed beam angle, designed around a die-cast aluminium housing in white finish. The fitting takes a single GU10 lamp (sold separately) and uses an anti-glare baffle to reduce direct view of the lamp face when approaching from the side or below, giving a softer ceiling appearance in residential and commercial spaces.
Designed for installation in plasterboard ceilings with a minimum void depth of 130mm, the Dipa requires a 68x68mm square cut-out and sits almost flush with the ceiling once fitted, projecting just 3mm. The drop-down GU10 lamp holder allows the bulb to be changed from below without removing the fitting or accessing the void, making maintenance faster in kitchens, hallways, bathrooms (outside wet zones) and commercial corridors. Tool-free cable termination speeds up second-fix installation on multi-unit projects.
The white die-cast aluminium construction provides durability without visible corrosion or yellowing under heat from halogen or LED GU10 lamps up to 10W. The fitting carries IP20 rating, meaning it's suitable for dry interior areas but not bathrooms zones 1 or 2, and holds Class II double-insulation status so no earth connection is required. The fixed beam cannot be tilted, making it suitable for general ambient lighting rather than accent or task applications where adjustability is needed.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling void depth is required?
The Dipa needs a minimum void depth of 130mm above the plasterboard to accommodate the lamp holder and allow airflow around the fitting. The recessed depth of the fitting itself is 39mm, but the additional clearance prevents heat build-up.
Does the fitting come with a GU10 bulb?
No. GU10 lamps are sold separately. The fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 10W, including LED, halogen, and dimmable variants. Most users choose an LED GU10 between 4-7W and 3000K-4000K for general ambient lighting.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
The IP20 rating means the Dipa is suitable for dry interior areas only. It cannot be installed in bathroom zones 1 or 2 (above baths, inside showers, or within 60cm of a basin or shower outlet). It can be used outside these zones where no direct water contact occurs.
Is the lamp holder adjustable or tiltable?
No. This is the fixed-beam version of the Dipa, meaning the GU10 lamp points directly downward and cannot be angled. Knightsbridge produces a tilt version of the Dipa for accent lighting applications where beam direction needs adjustment.
