Description

Four acrylic shades sit around a polished chrome frame, spanning 57cm across. Each shade is red on the outside and opal white within, so the colour reads strong by day and softens once the lamps are lit. The E27 sockets take GLS shaped LED lamps, and the suspension is adjustable over a generous length, so it can hang low above a table or sit closer to the ceiling in a room with less height. The light it gives is ambient, filling a room rather than pooling at the centre.

It earns its keep over a dining table, in a kitchen with an island to light, or in a wide hallway where a smaller pendant would look lost. We would fit warm white LED lamps here and add a trailing edge dimmer, as it will dim given suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer. The supply needs an earth connection. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; a porch or a shower room asks for something sealed. It suits anyone who wants colour overhead without patterned fabric or cut glass.

The shades are moulded acrylic, lighter than glass and more forgiving of a knock, and the metalwork is polished to a bright mirror finish that will show fingerprints. Dust with a dry lint free cloth, and lift marks from the chrome with a cloth barely damp, with the power off and the lamps cool. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are bought separately. We stock the same design as a larger pendant, as a flush fitting in two sizes, and with black acrylic in place of the red if you would rather the colour stayed quiet.
