Description

A small square rim cut from crystal, shallow in section so it sits close against the ceiling line rather than dropping below it. The face is 90mm square, with the Spectrum crystal finish giving the glass a shifting cast as light passes through the edges. This is the rim on its own: the lampholder and retaining ring come as a separate component kit, and we keep those in satin black, aged brass and polished chrome so the working parts can be matched to whatever the rest of the room is wearing.

It works best where a run of plain recessed lights would look a little flat, so hallways, dressing rooms, a kitchen island, or a row above shelving and artwork. The square face reads as neat and geometric next to the round rims in the same range, and a line of them holds a straight edge well. Because the rim itself carries no electrical parts, the light you get depends on the lamp and holder you pair with it, and dimming is possible where dimmable lamps are used with a suitable dimmer. It takes a standard 62mm cut-out, which is the same across the range, so rims can be swapped later without starting again.

Crystal throughout, faceted at the face so the edges pick up the light rather than sitting dull. Keep it looking right with a dry lint-free cloth, or a barely damp one for fingerprints, and avoid sprays and solvents that would dull the crystal. It carries a one year warranty. If a square is not quite the look, the same range runs to a chamfered square in clear crystal and to bubble squares in clear, green and aqua, and we would happily put a couple of options side by side before you commit. Lamps are not included.
