Description

Smoked crystal, cut in a cluster and set in a round rim, this is the decorative face of a recessed light rather than the working half of one. Polished chrome frames it. The smoke in the crystal softens the lamp behind it and scatters small glints across the rim, so the light arrives with a little sparkle instead of a flat white circle. It measures 100mm across and stands only a shade proud, so it reads as jewellery rather than hardware. The lampholder and retaining ring come from the matching component kit, which completes it.

We would use these in a hallway, over a stairwell, in a dressing room or above a dining table, anywhere a plain white bezel looks under-dressed. They suit ceilings that are already in view, and they earn their keep in small numbers rather than in long grids. Keep them to dry indoor rooms; a shower area or a covered porch asks for something sealed instead. Dimming is possible if the lamps chosen are dimmable ones, though no dimmer comes with it. Smoked is the quietest of the crystal colours we stock, and it sits well against warm timber, dark paint and brushed metal.

The crystal sits in a polished chrome rim, and the whole piece is light in the hand. To clean, lift the dust from the facets with a soft brush; if the crystal has dulled, wipe it with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away, leaving solvents and sprays alone. It carries a one year warranty.
