Description

Clear K9 crystal is set across a polished nickel frame, so the metal gives the piece its warmth and the crystal does the sparkling. Five candle lamps sit within, and the cut glass breaks their light into small bright points across the ceiling and walls. At 50cm across it is the largest of the round Cosette fittings, wide enough to fill the middle of a room on its own. The nickel is polished to a bright mirror finish rather than brushed, which keeps the whole thing light and reflective.

We reach for this where a hanging pendant would sit too low: over a dining table in a room with a modest ceiling, in a wide hallway, or at the centre of a main bedroom. Sitting semi flush, it keeps headroom in a way a long drop cannot. It suits period rooms and plainer modern ones equally, since the crystal carries the decoration and the frame stays quiet. Dimming is possible with dimmable lamps and a separate dimmer, which is worth doing in a dining room.

The frame is metal, plated and polished; the crystal is clear K9, a hard glass that keeps its clarity. It is earthed, and made for dry rooms indoors, so a bathroom is not the place for it. For care, switch off at the wall and let the lamps go cold, then run a dry microfibre cloth over each crystal piece; smears show quickly on polished nickel, so keep water and sprays away from it. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included, and we would use LED candle lamps here. The same fitting comes in antique brass, and there are smaller versions plus matching wall lights in this nickel.
