Description

The Colorado is a 2 light crystal wall light built around a polished chrome circular backplate from which approximately 30 faceted crystal spheres hang on thin wire strands, forming a cascading column 680mm tall and 270mm wide. Two GU10 lamp holders sit within the upper chrome canopy, directing light downward through the crystal strands. Each sphere is precision-cut to catch and refract light in multiple directions.

Designed for feature walls in hallways, staircases, living rooms and dining rooms where wall space allows for a vertical accent, the Colorado projects 140mm from the wall and requires clearance for the crystal strands to hang freely without obstruction. The fitting works best on walls opposite seating positions or along circulation routes where the refracted light can be appreciated from different angles as you pass. The two GU10 bulbs (sold separately) can be warm-white LED (2700K-3000K) or halogen depending on the desired light intensity and colour temperature.

The polished chrome finish on the backplate and wire strands reflects ambient room light during the day, giving the fitting a bright metallic presence even when switched off. At 3.2kg the combined weight of the chrome frame and crystal spheres requires secure fixing into a masonry wall or stud position — the fixture is not suitable for plasterboard-only fixing without appropriate wall anchors. The crystals are strung on taut wire but will sway slightly if knocked or if the fitting is installed in a high-traffic area where people pass close to the wall.

What bulbs does it take?

The Colorado takes 2 x GU10 bulbs up to 50W each (sold separately). Most users fit warm-white LED GU10s between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for ambient decorative lighting. Higher-wattage halogens give brighter output but generate more heat within the chrome canopy.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable GU10 bulbs. Standard non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker if used with a dimmer switch. Check the bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before purchase.

Can it be fitted to plasterboard walls?

At 3.2kg the Colorado requires secure fixing. On plasterboard-only walls you must use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors rated for at least 5kg per fixing point, or locate the backplate fixing screws into a stud or noggin behind the plasterboard.

How do you clean the crystals?

Switch off the power at the consumer unit before cleaning. Wipe each crystal sphere gently with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water. Do not spray liquids directly onto the fitting or use household glass cleaners, as they can leave residue that dulls the facets.
