Choice Plus Wireless Digital Room Thermostat - Silver

The Sangamo Choice Plus is a wireless digital room thermostat with a large rotary dial and integrated LCD display showing the current room temperature. The thermostat communicates with a separate receiver unit via 433MHz radio frequency, eliminating the need for cable runs between the wall-mounted thermostat and the boiler location. The system provides adjustable temperature control from 5°C to 30°C and uses TPI (Time Proportional & Integral) control to cycle the heating on and off in shorter bursts as the room approaches target temperature, reducing overshoot and improving efficiency.

Designed for installation in residential heating systems, the thermostat runs on AA batteries (supplied) and can be wall-mounted or placed on a shelf in the main living area. The receiver unit fits near the boiler or heating system and provides volt-free contacts rated at 16A, making it compatible with most gas, oil and electric boilers. The wireless range is approximately 30m indoors through typical partition walls, or up to 80m in open field conditions. The thermostat offers three operating modes: Comfort (normal heating schedule), Economy (reduced target temperature) and ON/OFF (manual override).

The silver housing measures 90mm wide by 198mm tall by 52mm deep, giving it a compact profile on the wall. The large dial provides tactile feedback when adjusting temperature, while the LCD shows the current room temperature in real time via an electronic sensor inside the thermostat body. A low battery indicator appears on the display when the batteries need replacing. Frost protection mode automatically activates heating if the room temperature drops below 5°C, preventing freeze damage in unoccupied properties.

What's the wireless range between thermostat and receiver?

The 433MHz transmission provides approximately 30m range indoors through typical partition walls and interior construction, or up to 80m in open field conditions with no obstructions. Thick walls, metal stud partitions and other wireless devices may reduce this range.

Is this compatible with combi boilers?

Yes. The receiver provides volt-free contacts rated at 16A, making it compatible with most gas, oil and electric boilers including combi, system and conventional models. The receiver wiring connects to the same terminals a wired thermostat would use.

How long do the batteries last?

Battery life depends on usage and ambient temperature, but typical AA alkaline batteries last 12-18 months under normal residential use. A low battery indicator appears on the LCD display when replacement is needed. Batteries are supplied with the unit.

What is TPI control?

TPI (Time Proportional & Integral) control cycles the heating on and off in shorter, more frequent bursts as the room temperature approaches the target setting. This reduces temperature overshoot and improves heating efficiency compared to simple on/off switching at a fixed differential.
