Description

This is a small table lamp with a black body and an opal white diffuser, sized to sit on a bedside table or a shelf without crowding it. One replaceable G4 capsule sits behind the shade, so the light reads as a soft glow rather than a hard point, and the output is cool white at 4000K. An inline switch on the flex keeps control at hand, which we find useful on a bedside where reaching behind a lamp is a nuisance. The capsule is supplied with the lamp.

Cool white suits spots where you want the light crisp rather than cosy: a home office desk, a dressing table, a shelf in a study, the end of a kitchen run. It lights a corner rather than a whole room, so we would treat it as company for a ceiling fitting or a reading light instead of a replacement for either. Anyone after a quiet piece of modern lighting that keeps the lamp itself out of sight will get on with it well. Because it is not dimmable, brightness stays where it is, which is the simpler arrangement where a lamp goes on for a task and off again afterwards.

The black finish runs across the base and the stem, with the opal white shade giving the only contrast, and the whole thing is light enough to move from room to room as needs change. To clean it, switch off at the socket, give the shade and body a wipe once they are cool, and keep polish and sprays away from the switch and the flex. It carries a three year warranty.
