Description

Two opal white shades on a black body, small enough to sit on a bedside table or a shelf without crowding it. Each takes a G4 capsule, and both are supplied fitted, so it lights as soon as you plug it in. The colour is a crisp cool white at 4000K, closer to daylight than candlelight, and the output is fixed rather than dimmable. An inline switch on the flex keeps control within reach, which we prefer to a switch tucked away under a base. It is one we reach for where a full size shade would look heavy on a small surface.

We would put this where you want a small pool of working light rather than a soft glow: a desk corner, a hall table beside the post and keys, a bedside where you read late. The cooler tone keeps colours honest, so it suits a dressing table or a home office just as well. It wants a socket nearby and a dry indoor spot, so bathrooms and porches are out. Anyone after a warmer, yellower light will be happier with the 3000K version, which we stock alongside this one.

Black throughout the body, with the opal shades softening the capsules so you see light rather than a bright point. The capsules are replaceable, so the lamp keeps going well past the first set. Wipe the shades now and then with a barely damp cloth and dry them off, with the lamp switched off and cool while you work, and keep polish and solvents away from the black.
