Description

A clear glass globe sits in a pewter gallery and holds tight to the ceiling, reading as a soft sphere rather than a hanging weight. At 20cm across it is a small fitting, and the clear glass leaves the lamp fully on show, so the bulb you choose becomes part of the look. We would put a decorative LED globe or a vintage-style tubular lamp in here, something with a filament worth looking at. Dark grey detailing on the metalwork keeps the frame quiet against the glass.

Flush fittings earn their keep where a pendant would be in the way, so this one suits low ceilings, landings, hallways, a small bedroom or the head of a stair. A single E27 lamp of up to 20W does the work, which makes it gentle, glowing light rather than the main source for a large room; repeat it along a corridor if you need more. It will dim if you pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer, neither of which comes with it. Keep it to dry indoor rooms, as a porch or a shower room asks for something sealed.

The shade is clear glass throughout, with the pewter finish carried across the ceiling plate and gallery.
