Description

The Carrie is a shade carrier rather than a finished light: a shallow ceiling frame in polished chrome with a single E27 lampholder at its centre, ready for whichever shade you prefer. At 15cm across it sits close to the ceiling line, so the shade does the visual work and the frame stays quiet behind it. The polished chrome is bright and reflective, picking up whatever light the room already has. Dimming is possible where both the lamp and the dimmer are chosen to suit.

We reach for this where headroom is short and a pendant would hang awkwardly: hallways, landings, a small bedroom, a boxroom, or a study above a desk. It suits anyone who has already settled on a shade, or who wants to change the look of a room later without touching the fitting itself. Put a linen shade on it and the light reads soft and domestic; choose glass or a metal drum and it turns crisper. In rented rooms and smaller flats, that flexibility is worth a good deal.

The frame is slim and unfussy, with the plated finish carried across the backplate and the holder so nothing jars once a shade is in place. Keep it looking right by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth; fingermarks on bright chrome lift with a cloth barely dampened in warm water and then dried off, and nothing abrasive should go near the plating. It carries a one year warranty. We also stock the same frame in antique gold and satin nickel, and a wider version that carries three shades where a larger room needs more light. Shade and lamp are chosen separately.
