Description

Supplied without a shade, this compact single lamp wall fitting leaves the shade choice to you. The backplate and short arm are finished in polished chrome, bright enough to catch the light without shouting about it, and the fitting measures 11cm across. An E27 socket sits at the end of the arm, ready for a shade with a matching fitting. There is no switch on the body, so it runs from a wall switch or a switched circuit, and it will dim where a suitable lamp and dimmer are used together.

It suits bedsides, where one either side of the headboard keeps the tables clear, and it works just as well on a small landing, in a hallway or in a study alcove. We reach for it when someone already has a shade in mind, or wants the shades in a room to answer a pendant overhead. Because the arm reaches out only a little way, it can go in tight spots such as beside a mirror or along a corridor where a deeper fitting would catch a shoulder. It belongs indoors, in rooms that stay dry.

Polished chrome is easy to keep looking right: a dry duster most weeks, and a soft cloth barely damp for fingermarks, with nothing abrasive anywhere near the shine. Switch off and let the lamp cool before you take it out to clean around the socket. Maximum lamp wattage is 20W, and lamps are not included. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same fitting in antique gold and satin nickel too, so the metalwork can follow whatever is already in the room, and mixing a plain linen or card shade with the chrome keeps the look quiet if the light sits somewhere you pass rather than sit.
