Description

Clear crystal catches and splits the light here, set against a polished chrome frame that keeps the whole piece bright even when it is switched off. Three E14 lamps sit inside the crystal rather than below it, so the light is broken up and thrown outwards as soft ambient brightness. At 44cm across, it is a medium fitting: enough presence for a dining table or a landing, but not so wide that it crowds a standard room. We would reach for LED candle lamps, plain or flame tip, which follow the shape of the fitting neatly.

It suits rooms where you want a little glitter without a long chandelier hanging down: bedrooms, hallways, a dining room with a lower ceiling, or a sitting room where a pendant would sit too low over a coffee table. The light it gives is decorative and general rather than task focused, so we would pair it with a table lamp if you read or work in the room. It will dim, provided the lamps you choose are dimmable and a dimmer is wired in; both are chosen separately.

The metalwork is finished in polished chrome and the crystal is clear, cut to a select grade. Keep it looking right by dusting the crystal with a dry lint free cloth and wiping fingermarks from the chrome with a barely damp one, nothing abrasive and no sprays. It carries a one year warranty. The same design runs through larger ceiling lights with more lamps, and through switched wall lights for either side of a bed or a fireplace, all offered in this chrome or in French gold, so a hallway and a bedroom can be matched without effort. What lamps does it take, and what is the maximum wattage?

It takes three E14 lamps, up to 20W each. LED candle lamps, either the C35 shape or the flame tip, are the ones we would choose.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

Yes, as long as you fit dimmable lamps and have a suitable dimmer switch. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.

How do I clean the crystal?

With the power off and the lamps cool, dust the crystal using a dry lint free cloth. If it needs more, a cloth very lightly dampened with water is enough; avoid glass sprays and anything abrasive, and dry the chrome afterwards.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, so keep it to dry rooms such as bedrooms, hallways, dining rooms and sitting rooms.
