Description

A semi flush fitting pairs a brass frame in an antique sheen with a dual faux silk shade, midnight black on the outside and a green olive lining that warms the light as it leaves. The shade measures 30cm across, broad enough to spread light softly rather than throw it into a narrow pool, and the fitting sits close to the ceiling with only a short drop below the plate. It takes a single E27 lamp, and we would choose an LED GLS globe rated up to 20W.

This is one we reach for in rooms where a pendant would hang too low: a hallway, a landing, a bedroom under a lower ceiling, or a small dining area where headroom matters. The black outer and olive lining sit well against deep paint colours and warm woods, and the brass stops the whole thing reading too heavy. Dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and dimmer, neither of which comes with it, so you can bring the level down for an evening.

The shade is faux silk, with the black facing the room and the olive turned inwards, while the frame and ceiling plate carry the antique brass finish. For care, lift dust from the fabric with a soft clothes brush and give the metal no more than a barely damp cloth, dried straight after so the finish keeps its depth. It carries a one year warranty. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from steam and splashes.
