Description

A shallow drum of ivory pearl faux silk hangs from a polished chrome plate, sitting close to the ceiling rather than dropping into the room. The shade is 40cm across, a size that reads as generous without dominating a modest room, and it is lined in white laminate behind the fabric. Chrome and pale fabric make an easy pairing: bright, quiet and simple to place in a room that already has plenty going on.

We reach for a fitting like this where a pendant would hang too low: hallways and landings, bedrooms under a lower ceiling, a small dining room, the turn of a staircase. It takes one E27 lamp of up to 20W, and we would fit an LED GLS lamp in a warm white for a hall or bedroom. It can be dimmed where the lamp and the dimmer are both suitable, which is worth doing over a dining table. Keep it to dry rooms indoors: a sitting room, landing or spare bedroom rather than a shower room or a covered porch.

The frame is metal in a polished chrome finish and the shade is faux silk over a white laminate lining. For cleaning, a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum will lift dust from the fabric, while the chrome takes a dry cloth; keep polish and sprays away from the shade. It carries a one year warranty.
