Description

A wide fabric drum in a warm, muted brown, lined inside in Grecian bronze so the light picks up a faint warmth as it falls. The shade is dual faux silk, held on a satin nickel frame, and beneath it a frosted acrylic diffuser with a satin nickel trim closes the underside so the lamp is never seen directly. At 50cm across it reads as a broad, calm circle on the ceiling rather than a fitting that pulls the eye upward.

We would put this in a hallway, a landing or a bedroom where a hanging shade would sit too low overhead, and it works just as well over a dining table in a room with a modest ceiling height. It is one we suggest where a flush fitting would feel flat but a pendant would get in the way. It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and an LED GLS is what we reach for here; dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and a matching dimmer. The frosted diffuser keeps glare down for anyone sitting beneath it.

The shade is faux silk over a shaped frame, the metalwork finished in satin nickel with a soft sheen rather than a mirror shine. Keep the fabric fresh with a soft brush or the upholstery tool on your vacuum, and give the acrylic an occasional wipe with a barely damp cloth once the power is off and the lamp has gone cold. It carries a one year warranty.
