Description

A broad faux silk drum sits close against the ceiling, its outer face a warm raw cocoa and its lining a deeper Grecian bronze, so the light picks up a little warmth on the way out. It is deep as well as wide, so the fabric reads as a solid band of colour rather than a thin ring. The frame and ceiling plate are finished in antique brass, and a frosted acrylic diffuser with a brass-toned rim closes the underside so the lamp is not seen from below.

At 50cm across it reads as a proper ceiling light rather than a small fitting, and because it sits close to the ceiling it suits rooms where a pendant would be in the way: hallways, landings, bedrooms and dining rooms with less height to play with. It takes one E27 lamp of up to 20W, and we would reach for an LED GLS here for an even glow through the diffuser. Add a compatible dimmer and lamp and the level can be brought down for the evening.

The shade is dual-layer faux silk, and the antique brass has a softly aged look rather than a bright polish that would fight the fabric. Dust the fabric now and then with a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum, and wipe the diffuser and metalwork with a barely damp cloth once the fitting has been off long enough to be cool. It carries a one year warranty. We also stock the plain Baymont semi flush plates in polished chrome, satin nickel and satin black if you would rather choose your own shade. Lamps are not included.
