Description

The shade here is broad and shallow, a faux silk drum finished in ivory pearl with a white laminate lining, carried on polished chrome metalwork. Underneath sits a frosted acrylic diffuser with a chrome trim, so the lamp is hidden and the light leaves as a soft wash rather than a bright point. At 60cm across it reads as a generous circle from below, and the drop can be shortened or let out to suit the height of the room.

This is a light for rooms with space to fill: above a long dining table, in a bedroom above the foot of the bed, or centred in a wide hallway with the ceiling height to carry a full pendant. It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and an LED GLS is what we would fit, since the diffuser suits a lamp that stays quiet behind it. Dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and dimmer, both chosen separately. It is one we reach for where a smaller shade would look lost.

The shade is fabric over a laminate backing, which keeps the ivory pearl even when lit, and the chrome is polished bright enough to pick up daylight from a window. For upkeep, run a soft clothes brush over the fabric now and again and lift dust from the diffuser with a barely damp cloth, once the power is off and the lamp cold. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Baymont range runs to universal flush and semi flush fixtures and linear pendants, in antique brass, satin nickel, satin black and white as well as chrome, all made to pair with shades of your choosing.
