Baymont Pendant Light 50cm Midnight Black - Antique Brass

A broad faux silk drum hangs from a slim antique brass suspension, with a frosted acrylic diffuser closing the underside. The shade is 50cm across, so it reads as the main light in a room rather than an accessory. Outside it is midnight black; inside, a green olive lining warms the light as it passes down through the diffuser, which spreads the glow evenly and keeps the lamp out of sight. The drop is adjustable at the point of fitting, from a short hang under an ordinary ceiling to a long run down a stairwell void.

We reach for this where a room wants one generous light instead of a row of small ones: above a dining table, over a kitchen island, or in a wide hallway where a narrow shade would look lost. It suits a bedroom too, centred over the bed, where the diffused underside is kinder to the eye than a bare lamp. It takes a single E27 lamp and we would fit an LED GLS A60 of up to 20W, which is ample behind frosted acrylic. Dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and a dimmer, both chosen separately.

The metalwork is finished in antique brass, an aged low shine gold that sits comfortably with walnut, warm stone and darker paint colours. The fabric responds well to a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting, while the acrylic takes a barely damp cloth once the power is off at the wall and the fitting is cool to the touch. It carries a one year warranty. No lamp is supplied.

How far down will it hang?

The drop can be set anywhere from 405mm to a maximum of 3330mm, so it works under a standard ceiling and over a stairwell alike. The shade body itself stands 370mm tall.

What lamp should I use?

One E27 lamp, and we suggest an LED GLS A60 rated no higher than 20W. Lamps are bought separately.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use a dimmable lamp with a matching dimmer. Neither is included.

What is the shade made of?

Is it heavy?
