Baymont Pendant Light 40cm Midnight Black - Antique Brass

A drum shade of dual faux silk hangs from a slim antique brass suspension: midnight black outside, green olive within, so the light takes on a soft olive cast as it falls. At 40cm across, the shade is broad enough to act as the main event over a table without crowding a room. It takes an E27 lamp, and we would reach for a GLS A60 LED in a warm white, up to 20W. The drop is adjustable, so it can sit low over a table or stretch down a tall void.

Over a dining table is the obvious use, hung so the shade sits just above eye level when you are seated. A pair reads well either side of a bed in place of table lamps, and the long drop suits a stairwell or a hallway with real height, reaching down as far as 3.3m. Because the shade is fabric rather than glass, the light stays gentle, which favours sitting rooms and bedrooms over task-heavy corners. With a dimmable lamp and a matching dimmer it will dim, so the same fitting carries you from supper to late evening. Keep it to dry indoor rooms; a shower room or a covered porch wants something rated for wet and damp instead.

The frame is metal in an antique brass finish, a soft aged gold that sits happily with walnut, unlacquered hardware and darker paint colours. The shade is faux silk with a quiet sheen, lined so the inner face stays a clean olive green. Fabric prefers dry handling: a lint roller or a soft brush over the silk, and a dry cloth on the brasswork, with no sprays or damp sponges near the shade. It carries a one year warranty. What lamp does this pendant take?

One E27 lamp, up to 20W. A GLS A60 LED is the recommended shape and it gives an even fill through the faux silk. Lamps are not supplied.

Can I dim it?

Yes, provided you fit a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer switch. Neither the lamp nor the dimmer is included.

How far does it hang down?

The drop runs from 390mm at its shortest to 3310mm at its longest, so it works over a low table or in a full-height stairwell.

What size is the shade?

400mm in diameter and 180mm deep, with a body height of 355mm.

Can it go in a bathroom?
