A slim antique brass bar holds three lamps in a straight line, spanning 129cm end to end, so light falls along the length of a table rather than in one central pool. The shading is faux silk, midnight black on the outside with a green olive lining that warms the colour of the light as it passes through. At 40cm across and shallow in depth, it keeps a low, horizontal profile. Each lamp position takes an E27 lamp, and the suspension can be set short under a normal ceiling or let out a long way over a stairwell.

This is one we would hang over a dining table, a kitchen island or a long run of worktop, where the shape of the fitting echoes the shape of the surface beneath it. The dark shade outer keeps it calm in a room with pale walls, while the olive lining gives the glow a soft, slightly green-gold cast. We would put warm white LED GLS lamps in it and wire it through a dimmer, since the fitting will dim happily with compatible lamps and a separate dimmer switch, which lets you go bright for cooking and low for a long dinner.

The metalwork is finished in an aged brass tone with a mellow, low shine that hides fingerprints well, and the silk-effect fabric is stretched taut over the frames. For upkeep, turn the power off, lift dust from the fabric with a soft brush or the low setting on a vacuum, and buff the brass with a dry cloth only, as sprays and creams will dull the finish. Keep it to dry rooms; it is not made for bathrooms or covered outdoor spaces. It carries a one year warranty. How far down can it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 415mm at its shortest to 3225mm at its longest, so it suits standard ceilings and tall voids alike.

What lamps should I use?

It takes three E27 lamps, up to 20W each, and LED GLS (A60) lamps are the recommended choice. They are supplied separately.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer switch. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?
