Description

Three E27 lamps sit beneath a gold leaf shade, 40cm across, with a frosted acrylic diffuser closing the underside so light comes down softly rather than as glare. The metalwork is antique brass, warm and gently aged against the foiled face of the shade, which is lined in white laminate. The drop is adjustable, so it can sit high and quiet in the room or come down close over a surface.

It earns its keep over a long dining table or a kitchen island, where light needs to reach the ends of the surface as well as the middle. In a wide sitting room or a generous hallway it does much the same job at a higher drop. We would fit LED GLS lamps here, no more than 20W each, and it will dim where those lamps and the dimmer are chosen to suit one another. It is an indoor fitting, meant for dry rooms on a normal household supply.

The shade is gold leaf over a white laminate lining, so the inner face stays bright while the outer keeps its foiled warmth, and the acrylic diffuser is frosted with antique brass detailing to match the frame. Treat the leaf kindly: a dry soft brush or a duster, no sprays and no damp cloths, and wipe the acrylic only once the lamps have gone cold. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Baymont range runs to polished chrome versions and to flush fittings for rooms with less height to give away, which is where we point people whose ceilings sit low. Lamps are not included.
