Baymont E27 Semi Flush Ceiling Light Raw Cocoa - Polished Chrome

A dual faux silk drum sits close under the ceiling on a polished chrome fitting, so what you see is a soft band of colour rather than a hanging shape. The outer face is raw cocoa, a warm mid brown, while the inside is grecian bronze, which puts a faint metallic warmth into the light coming down. The shade is 30cm across and 17cm deep, a broad, shallow shape that spreads light widely. Electrically it is simple: a single E27 lampholder rated to 20W, and we would fit an LED GLS globe in it.

Semi flush fittings earn their place where ceiling height is tight, and this one suits hallways, landings, small bedrooms and box rooms where a pendant would be in the way. The fabric keeps the light kind rather than sharp, so it works over a bedside or in a dressing area, and the cocoa and bronze pairing sits well against warm neutrals, cream, putty and painted timber. It will dim if you pair a dimmable lamp with a matching dimmer, though neither comes with it. For a hall we would choose a warm white lamp and leave it on a plain switch.

Keep it dry: lift dust off the fabric with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery head held just clear of it, and buff the chrome with a dry duster once the lamp is cold. Sprays and damp cloths are best kept away from the shade. It carries a one year warranty, and lamps are supplied separately. It takes one E27 lamp up to 20W, and an LED GLS A60 globe is the recommended choice. Lamps are not included.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.

How do I clean the faux silk shade?

Dust it with a soft brush, or a vacuum upholstery head held a little away from the fabric. Faux silk should not be washed or treated with sprays; a dry cloth is all the chrome needs.

Is it suitable for a bathroom or a covered porch?

No. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms such as bedrooms, halls and living spaces, so bathroom zones and anywhere exposed to damp are out.
