Description

A shallow drum shade in Raw Cocoa faux silk sits on a short antique brass stem, holding the light close to the ceiling rather than dropping it down into the room. The shade is lined in Grecian Bronze, so the inside carries a warmer, deeper tone once the lamp is lit, while the outer face reads as a soft muted brown. At 30cm across, it has enough presence to settle a small room without crowding it, and shade, stem and ceiling plate stay in scale with one another.

We reach for this where a ceiling sits a little low and a hanging fitting would be in the way of a door or a wardrobe: hallways, landings, spare bedrooms, and the turn at the top of the stairs. It suits a study or a dressing area too, where the fabric softens the light rather than throwing it about. It takes a single E27 lamp of up to 20W, and we would use an LED GLS here for a warm, even glow through the faux silk. Dimming is possible where a compatible lamp and dimmer are fitted.

The metalwork is finished in antique brass, aged rather than bright, and the shade is a dual faux silk, the bronze lining set against the cocoa outer. To keep it fresh, lift dust from the fabric with a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum, and give the brass an occasional dry wipe; sprays and damp cloths are best kept away from the silk. It carries a one year warranty.
