Description

A neat semi flush fitting for rooms where a hanging pendant would be in the way. The polished chrome frame holds the shade close to the ceiling, and the faux silk shade measures 30cm across, in ivory pearl with a white laminate lining. It takes a single E27 lamp, and we would fit an LED GLS globe of up to 20W here. With a suitable lamp and a compatible dimmer it will dim, though neither of those is included.

Ceiling height decides a great deal in lighting, and this is the shape we reach for when there is little room to spare above head height: hallways, landings, small bedrooms, a study or a spare room over a bed. The fabric shade pushes light softly outwards and down, so it works as the main light in a room that also has a table lamp or two for reading. The ivory and chrome pairing sits quietly against white or pale walls and reads as a light rather than a centrepiece.

The shade is fabric over a laminate liner, and the metalwork is finished in polished chrome, bright enough to pick up daylight without looking glassy. Keep the chrome clear of fingerprints with a dry microfibre cloth, and lift dust from the fabric with a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum, working around the seam rather than across it. Nothing damp should touch the shade, and the fitting is for indoor rooms only. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Baymont range runs to linear pendants and multi-light flush fixtures for bigger rooms, several of them sold as universal fittings to be paired with a shade of your choosing, so a hall and a sitting room can be matched up without repeating the same fitting twice.
