Description
A wide, shallow drum sits close to the ceiling here, 60cm across in faux silk with an ivory pearl face and a white laminate lining. The lining bounces light back down cleanly rather than absorbing it, and a frosted acrylic diffuser closes the underside so the lamp itself is never in view. Satin nickel metalwork frames the base and holds the shade level. It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and we would reach for a warm white LED GLS in it.
Semi flush proportions suit rooms where a hanging pendant would sit awkwardly low: hallways and landings, bedrooms with a bed or wardrobe close by, kitchen-dining spaces with ordinary ceiling heights. Because the shade is broad and the diffuser spreads the output, it works as general light for a medium-sized room rather than a reading light over a chair. It is dimmable when paired with a compatible lamp and dimmer, neither of which comes with it, which makes it a sensible choice for a bedroom or above a dining table where you want the level to drop in the evening.
The shade is fabric over a laminate liner, so treat it gently: a soft brush or the upholstery attachment on a vacuum keeps dust off the faux silk, and the acrylic diffuser comes clean with a barely damp cloth once the power is off and the lamp cold. Steam and damp are not its territory, so keep it to dry indoor rooms. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Baymont range runs to universal semi flush plates and linear pendants in polished chrome, antique brass, satin black and white if you would rather choose your own shade. Lamps are not included.

Frequently Asked
How far does it drop below the ceiling?
The fitting measures 420mm from the ceiling to the lowest point, with a body height of 220mm, so it stays much closer to the ceiling than a pendant while still giving the shade room to breathe.
What lamp should I use?
One E27 lamp, rated at no more than 20W. An LED GLS in the A60 shape is the recommendation, and a warm white gives the ivory pearl silk its best colour.
Can I dim it?
Yes, provided you fit a dimmable lamp and a matching dimmer. Neither is supplied, so check that your chosen LED and dimmer are listed as compatible with each other.
What is the shade made from?
Faux silk over a white laminate liner, 60cm in diameter and 22cm deep, with a frosted acrylic diffuser at the base.
How big a room will it light?
With a 60cm shade and a diffused downward spread, it works well as the main light in a medium-sized bedroom, hallway or dining area. Larger open-plan spaces are better served by two fittings or additional lamps.
How do I clean the faux silk?
Dust it with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery attachment, working around the drum in one direction. Avoid sprays and solvents, and never wet the fabric.
