Description

A broad drum shade in grey faux silk sits on a polished chrome frame, with a frosted acrylic diffuser closing the underside so the light arrives soft and even. At 60cm across it reads as a wide, shallow shape that hugs the ceiling rather than dropping into the room. The shade is lined in white laminate, which keeps the tone of the light clean and bright. There is nothing fussy about it beyond the contrast of bright metal and soft cloth.

It suits rooms where a pendant would hang too low: landings, bedrooms with ordinary ceiling heights, or over a dining table in a flat. In a hallway it gives a broad, even light with nothing to duck around. One lamp does the work, and we would reach for an LED GLS in warm white, up to 20W, for a gentle wash across the ceiling and down through the diffuser. Dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and dimmer, both chosen separately, if you want the level to drop in the evening.

The chrome is polished to a bright shine and the fabric shade is smooth to the eye, so the two sit well together. For care, lift dust from the faux silk with a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum, and wipe the acrylic diffuser with a barely damp cloth when it dulls, keeping water off the fabric. It carries a one year warranty.
