Description

A broad drum shade in black faux silk sits close against the ceiling, its white laminate lining pushing light back down through the acrylic diffuser beneath. That diffuser mixes frosted and antique brass acrylic, so the warm metal tone of the fitting carries through to the underside rather than stopping at the top. At 60cm across it reads as one wide, quiet circle, and the shallow body keeps the whole thing well clear of head height.

This is the size to reach for over a dining table in a room with a normal ceiling, or in a hallway or landing where a hanging pendant would be in the way. It also works over a bed, where the light spreads sideways instead of glaring down. It takes a single E27 lamp, and it will dim if you pair a suitable LED with a compatible dimmer; we would fit an LED GLS lamp and leave the light to do the rest. We stock it with the black shade and antique brass metalwork as shown.

The frame and detailing are finished in antique brass, with the shade built as a laminate so the black outer face and the pale inner face stay crisp. Keep it simple to look after: a lint roller or soft brush over the fabric now and then, and a dry cloth on the acrylic once the light has been off long enough to be cool to touch. It carries a one year warranty. Elsewhere in the range there are compact universal semi flush fixtures and longer linear pendants, in polished chrome and satin nickel as well as antique brass, if you want matching metalwork through a hall and into the room beyond.
