Description

A wide, shallow drum in grey faux silk, held close to the ceiling on a polished chrome plate, with a frosted acrylic diffuser closing the underside so the lamp is never seen directly. The shade is 50cm across and 20cm deep, giving a broad, soft wash of light rather than a narrow pool. A single E27 lampholder sits behind the diffuser and takes up to 20W.

We reach for this where a pendant would hang too low: hallways and landings, bedrooms with lower ceilings, a small dining room, or the top of a stairwell where headroom matters. Light through the diffuser and the pale lining is even and kind to the eye, which makes it a fair choice above a bed or a sofa. We would fit an LED GLS lamp here. With a suitable dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer on the circuit the output can be brought down for evenings, though no dimmer comes with it.

The shade is faux silk over a grey and white laminate lining, and the plate and trim are polished chrome, so it reads bright without turning fussy against white paint. Keep the fabric fresh with a soft brush or an upholstery head on low suction, and give the chrome a barely damp cloth followed by a dry buff, both with the power off at the switch. We would keep it to dry indoor rooms and well away from bathrooms. It carries a one year warranty.
