Description

A black faux silk drum sits close to the ceiling on an antique brass frame, its inside faced in white laminate so light is pushed back down into the room. The shade is 40cm across and 18cm deep, generous enough to read as a proper shade rather than a small close fitting, while the brass body beneath it keeps the drop short. Warm and quiet rather than showy, it gives the finished look of a pendant without the hanging length.

We reach for this where a hanging pendant would sit too low: hallways and landings, a bedroom with a shallower ceiling, a small dining room or a study. It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and we would fit a GLS shaped LED for a warm, even spread through the fabric. Dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and a separate dimmer, neither of which comes with the fitting. It is meant for dry interior rooms, away from bathroom steam and anything exposed to the weather.

The frame is metal finished in antique brass, warm and gently aged rather than bright, and the shade is faux silk with a laminated backing that helps it hold its shape. Keep dust off the fabric with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery head on low suction, and give the brass an occasional wipe with a dry cloth; sprays and damp cloths mark faux silk, so leave both in the cupboard. It carries a one year warranty. Elsewhere in the range we stock universal semi flush plates in antique brass, satin nickel and polished chrome for anyone who would rather pick their own shade, plus linear pendants in the same three finishes.
