Description

A shallow faux silk drum in ivory pearl sits just below the ceiling here, carried on a satin nickel plate and a short stem. The shade measures 30cm across, wide enough to spread light gently rather than send it in one direction, and the white laminate lining inside turns it back down into the room. A single E27 socket sits within the shade and takes up to 20W, so a warm LED in the usual GLS shape is ample for most rooms.

This is the sort of fitting we reach for where a pendant would hang too low: landings, hallways, spare bedrooms and small dining rooms with a modest ceiling height. It suits anyone who wants the softness of a fabric shade without losing headroom above a door or a table. Paired with a suitable LED lamp and a compatible dimmer, the light can be brought down to something quieter for the evening, though neither the lamp nor the dimmer comes with it.

The frame is metal under a satin nickel finish, a low sheen that sits comfortably against white or pale ceilings and picks up other nickel ironmongery in a room. The shade is faux silk with the laminated white inner face. To keep it fresh, lift dust from the fabric with a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum, and keep water and sprays away from the lining. It carries a one year warranty.
