Description

The shade here is faux silk in ivory pearl, lined with a white laminate that keeps the light clean and even, and it measures 40cm across for a broad, low-key drum profile. A frosted acrylic diffuser sits in the base, so the lamp is screened and the light leaves softly downwards as well as through the sides. The suspension is finished in satin nickel, a quiet grey-silver that sits well against pale walls, and the drop adjusts through a wide span, out to 3.3m where a stairwell asks for it.

We reach for a pendant of this size over a dining table, where the diffuser takes the glare out of the sightline as people face each other, and in a hallway or on a landing where a broad shade fills the volume without crowding it. It suits a bedroom too, hung centrally or dropped low beside the bed in place of a table lamp. It takes an E27 lamp and we would fit an LED GLS, up to 20W, in a warm white for living rooms and something crisper over a worktop. It will dim if you pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer.

Acrylic and laminated fabric ask very little of you: a soft brush over the shade for dust, and a barely damp cloth on the diffuser once the power is off and the lamp has gone cold. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from bathroom steam and unheated porches. It carries a one year warranty.
