Description

Black faux silk over a white laminate lining gives this pendant a crisp, quiet look, and the satin nickel suspension keeps the metalwork discreet. A frosted acrylic diffuser sits within the shade, so the lamp is softened rather than stared at, and light falls downward as well as glowing gently through the sides. At 40cm across, the drum is broad enough to act as the main fitting in a room without crowding it.

We would hang it over a dining table, in a hallway, or centrally in a bedroom where a bare lamp would be unkind. The drop is adjustable and extends to a little over 3.3m, so it works in tall rooms and above stairwells as well as at ordinary ceiling heights. It takes an E27 lamp, and we reach for an LED GLS globe of up to 20W for the warmest, quietest result. Dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and dimmer, though neither is supplied with the pendant.

The shade pairs a black outer face with a white inner one, and the acrylic diffuser is frosted with a satin nickel trim to match the suspension. Dust the fabric with a soft brush and wipe the acrylic with a barely damp cloth; household sprays and solvents will cloud acrylic, so keep them clear. As a dry-room fitting it belongs in living rooms, bedrooms and hallways rather than a bathroom or a covered porch. It carries a one year warranty.
