Baymont E27 Pendant Light Black Frosted Diffuser - Antique Brass

Black faux silk over a white laminate lining, hung from antique brass metalwork, with a frosted acrylic diffuser set into a brass ring across the base. The shade is 40cm across and a little under half that in depth, so the light spreads broadly rather than falling in a narrow pool. Because the underside is closed off by the diffuser, the lamp stays out of view and the glare stays low for anyone sitting beneath it. The brass carries an aged, softly warm sheen rather than a bright polish.

It earns its place over a dining table, along a kitchen island, or in a hallway where a shaded drum reads better than bare glass. The suspension can sit high and short under an ordinary ceiling, or be let down as far as 3.3m for a stairwell or a room with real height. We would put an LED GLS lamp in the E27 holder, 20W at most, and it will dim happily if you match a dimmable lamp to a suitable dimmer.

The frame and ceiling plate are metal in the antique brass finish, the shade is faux silk with the pale laminate turned inwards to bounce light down, and the diffuser is acrylic. To clean, switch off at the wall and let things go cold, then take dust off the silk with a soft brush and give the acrylic a wipe with a barely damp cloth. Dry indoor rooms only, please; a bathroom or a covered porch wants something sealed instead. It carries a one year warranty. What size is the shade?

The shade measures 400mm in diameter by 180mm deep, and the body of the fitting stands 355mm tall.

How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 390mm at its shortest to 3310mm at its longest, so it suits both standard ceilings and stairwells.

Which lamp should I use?

An E27 lamp rated up to 20W. We recommend an LED GLS (A60) shape, which sits neatly behind the frosted diffuser.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamp nor a dimmer is included.

Does it need an earth?

Yes. It is a Class 1 fitting, so an earth connection is required at the supply.

How do I keep the shade looking good?

Brush the faux silk gently with a soft dry brush or a low-suction upholstery tool. Avoid sprays and solvents on both the fabric and the acrylic.
