Description

Wide and softly drawn, this is a drum shade of taupe faux silk lined in halo gold, so the light falling from it carries a warm cast. It measures 60cm across, which gives the fabric room to read as a proper shape rather than a trim. A frosted acrylic diffuser set in a polished chrome ring closes the underside, screening the lamp and spreading the downward light evenly. The suspension and ceiling plate above are finished in polished chrome to match. It takes one E27 lamp, and an LED GLS is the sort we would fit here.

A shade this wide wants space around it. We would hang it over a dining table, in a generous hallway or a stairwell, or centrally in a bedroom, where the diffused base keeps glare off the ceiling and out of your eyes. The flex can be shortened at fitting or let out to 3.35m, so tall rooms are within reach as readily as standard ceiling heights. It will dim, given a compatible LED lamp and a matching dimmer, which suits a dining room asked to do both homework and supper.
